Your solution has likely compromises, such as no 1080p output, and
very minimal sound data stream processing.
The high dollar players are made for, as is the entire niche, high
end audio/video connoisseurs.
As for the game consoles... $50 a goddamned title for games is
fucking ridiculous, and it is console buyers and parents that drive
it. A three month boycott on them... yeah... that's it...
