Yeah the main one being, that's all they make nowadays! Dugh... Go to a
store like BestBuy and see how many 4:3 big screen tv's are on display,
none..so of course 16:9 they will outsell 4:3, but it's the new standard,
so...your point?

Never in 4 years! I for one have hundreds of blank DVD's yet to be written
to. 2 burners and hundreds of DVD movies
in my collection, that I have no intention of repurchasing in any other
format. After destructible VHS, I swore DVD will be the format for my
collection for my lifetime. I don't need any better picture than I get now
with current DVD. Period.

My sister and millions of people like her, still own a VHS, although it
still blinks 12:00 and she hasn't rented a tape in years. She is planning on
buying a DVD player for the first time in her life in the next few years and
will never buy a bigger than 32" glass tube TV, even that I forced her to
upgrade to when her 27" busted last year. So, no HD for her and definitely
no HD-DVD in next 4 years.
Unlike 8-track and cassette, DVD is digital, as is an audio CD. Both formats
will live for MANY MORE years to come, maybe even the hundred DVD and CD's
are suppose to last! :)
