Hi,
I am trying to make a DVD with stills only, using DVD Studio Pro 3 on
Mac OS X (10.4.3) and a G5 with 2Gb SDRAM. The images I use are 768 x
576 tiff images 72dpi. I have two problems I hope someone here can shed
some light on:
1. Trying to make the menu have a background that goes from pitch black
and transitioned into an image. I have set the parameters in the menu
palette to do this, but nothing happens when I "simulate". The black
never changes.
I have also tried making a slideshow of this, using a black tiff as
first image and then a transition, but can't use the show as background,
neither "as is" or if making a track of it.
I also tried making a clip to use instead. Used Final Cut Pro, iMovie,
PhotoToMovie and Still Life in my feeble attempts, but all of them made
clips with extremely poor quality of the stills I used. Maybe I made
something wrong.....
Anyway: If someone can suggest a way to do this, I would be grateful...
2. I also made a button in DVDSP using the styles that shipped with the
app. But when simulating, half the button is discolored. I have no clue
where I went wrong. I'd be as happy for tips about this...
3. In general, how would I go about to achieve best possible quality
when using still images? Which pixel size and/or resolution? File type?
Color depth? Which app is best in handling stills and making clips of
them? Which format should I use when converting (I need PAL 4:3, but
then there are at least half a dozen options I don't know squat about)?
Do I need to blur in some direction? If so, which and how much? Or are
there other trix?
I've spent the best part of Christmas and New Year holidays fiddling and
testing and both I and the family are approaching road's end, so I thank
you in advance for any tips you can give....
Cheers,
Dan
