Thanks for the comments Richard,

The application is precisely for the same type of tasks you
would use the Canopus ADVC-110, except the analog signal
is NOT DV compressed, like ADVC-110 would. I am curious
why you would say that "nothing about it looks useful for
video production"? I was hoping to use it as a better (higher
quality video) alternative to ADVC-110 exactly? I do write my
own capture and processing routines rather ADVC-110's can
software.

There is more and more overlap between
Video production and vision products these days. I am
looking forward to comments from those who have had a chance
to use the DFG-1394 and are able to comment on quality
of the digitized video.
