It's a steel "Y" shaped thing with a socket at the bottom for an arm,
which connects to a spring support arm, which supports the sled (in my
case, a GlideCam 4000). Fabric and velcro staps and pads hold the hold
thing firmly to the torso.
I'm likin' it, so far.
