Yes, but is the RIAA listening? Emphatically NO! I heard a rep from the
RIAA debate a lawyer from the EFF this morning on CNBC. The EFF lawyer
asked why not just use existing copyright law to deter copying. The RIAA
response was the same old stuff which amounted to 'it's not practical'
(my paraphrase, not a direct quote). And he didn't address Steve's point
about DRM 'secrets' being leaked from companies who license FairPlay.
Since Apple and not the RIAA would be responsible for fixing the DRM
protection after such a leak, the RIAA man's comments seem fatuous at
best.
