I see it the other way around.

If one declares "I couldn't care less." They DO have some care or
they would not even have made the announcement.

If someone says "I could care less." They usually are inferring "but
I don't"(care less), which says to me that they are at a point at
least as low as the other claimant.

But I don't really give a fat flying fuck what you zero common sense
gang boy adolescents think or care about. I could care less...
