Sorry, but I still do not understand how anyone could store my dataas cheaply as I can. That would assume that I was willing to
allow someone to view my family movies - which I would NEVER do.

As of today, my total out-of-pocket cost to store a gigabyte of data
is ~ six cents/US ($0.06). That is on a very high quality DVD-R,
single. I can't even conceive of someone providing me with 20 years of
free storage space (on hard drives?) for a total of $0.06/US. Uploading
A/V data in this volume would be a nightmare, even with a T1. I just
shot 4.5 hours of MiniDV at the grandkids school program earlier
today. I firmly believe that it will be a LOT easier for me to simply rewind
the three 1.5hr tapes and convert over to three DVD-Rs (VOBs) than to
upload that much data to the hard drive(s) of an online service. That's
 > 50GB of data to upload. Really can't see the logic in doing that. I can

the three 4.7GB DVD-Rs (plus three more dupes as backup) while I'm
 responding
to email, etc. - all the DVD burning is done in the background. When the
 burning
is complete, I just rewind the MiniDV (or D8) tapes, and shoot another
 1.5hrs
and repeat the process again, and again, ... been doing this for some time
 now.
