My old Panasonic VCR seems OK too, although a Mitsubishi S-VHS VCR is a step
upwards there. I never considered a DVD-VCR combo, and don't like that idea.
A lot of the cheap DVD players I tried from Sears and Walmart skip & freeze,
but I found a reliable Emerson model. Moral: don't buy the cheapest you can
find...
