I dunno about 'lowbrow' players, but mine is the Phillips 642 Divx player.
It does PAL/NTSC; I included the Mike Oldfield Millennium Bell concert disc
on my eBay order one time. It worked fine. The back seems to read as PAL
region 2-3-4-5-6.
My only real complaint about the Phillips is the eight character title limit
for the MPEG/DIVX titles.
