The May 2007 edition of PC World (just released) contains a High-Def
Superguide which features reviews of HD-DVD and Blue Ray formats and
players. The Toshiba HD-A2 and HD-XA2 are pitted against the Sony BDP-
S1, the Samsung BD-P1000, the Philips BDP9000, the Pioneer Elite BDP-
HD1 and Panasonic DMP-BD10. The Xbox 360 & HD DVD add on are also
included along with the Playstation 3.
The test center results are:
1. Samsung score 82
2. Philips score 81
3. Sony score 80
4. Playstation score 80
5. Toshiba A2 score 79
6. Toshiba XA2 score 79
7. Pioneer score 77
8. Panasonic score 75
9. Xbox 72
The article says, "Two blue ray players - the Pioneer and Sony gave us
the best images. Each scored in the top two for image detail, color
quality and brightness and contrast across both our high definition
and standard definition tests. the best of HD DVD ...Toshibas XA2 ...
colors looked slightly muted compared to the best players and
background details were a little less sharp and deep."
