what I recently did after getting an unexpected shutdown, was to DISCONNECT
and then go down the list and TRIM 10K from each incomplete file.
took a while, but winmx runs as good as ever now.

A good thought. Why did you not suggest that first up? Just curious.
just did it 2 days ago, this thread started over a week ago.
picked up on doing it from another news group, and it worked, so passed it
along.
I deleted all recent zero bytes incompletes. Then I found alternative that
didn't cause a shutdown. There's folk out there deliberately uploading bad
files to the network.
