I use Adobe Encore for authoring DVDs, so I don't know if this
suggestion is applicable to Adobe Premiere?
When I author a DVD, I have Encore write an image file (.img
which appears to be exactly the same as an .iso) Then I use
DVD Decrypter (the "banned" ripping application) to write my
img files to DVDs. DVD Decrypter is MUCH better at interfacing
to DVD writers, and it gives you MUCH more info about what
is happening, the status of the drive, the disc, etc. etc. I find
it especially useful that it identifies the internal code on the
disc to confirm the brand/speed, etc.
I find the built-in burning function of the Adobe products to be
in violation of Al Einstein's dictum: "Everything should be made
as simple as possible, but no more so." ie. The Adobe built-in
burning function is oversimplified and rendererd unusable in
cases such as we see here.
There may be other utilities that write ISO/IMG files that are
better at handling situations such as this one (Nero, etc??)
But I am quite happy with DVD Decrypter and have not done
any further research. Note that there are several DVD-specific
newsgroups where the likely have more extensive discussions
of this kind of issue. They may already have FAQs or BKMs
(Best Known Methods), etc.
