Crap, I stole a free sample the other day and didn't even know it!

Here's the thing: The comparison is often made between downloading a
CD and stealing one from the store. But there's a difference. First,
the majority of people who download music wouldn't be buying CDs
anyway if they couldn't download. Second, many people who download
music DO buy CDs of their favorite artists to support them, and to get
the liner notes and art, as well as a high-quality copy. Third,
stealing intellectual property will never be identical to stealing
physical property so long as manufacturing CDs isn't near-instant and
free like copying music.
