I suggest you acquaint yourself with "netiquette".

There are groups that allow commercial posts, eg "forsale" groups, but
the vast majority, including the three crossposted groups, do not.

This is the charter for rec.video.dvd.tech:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.video.dvd.tech/msg/7a16f3b08fce0afa?hl=en&

"The posting of advertisements, money-making schemes, and other 'spam'
is not allowed, even if such material is related to DVD and/or
DVD-Video."

This is the charter for alt.video.dvdr:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.video.dvdr/msg/42bbbfc33b7cc407?hl=en&

"Flame-wars, flooding, spam or any kind of advertising and other
off-topic material is not be allowed."

This is the charter for alt.video.dvd.tech:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.video.vcr/msg/1d2c3bff93cfbdc4?hl=en&

-Posters are expected to follow proper Netiquette.
-Posters are expected to respect the other posters.
-Spam, flames, and personal attacks are discouraged.

True, but we shouldn't have to put up with this rubbish in the first
place.

That link appears to be dead. In any case I am unable to find any
record of any charter for aus.dvd.

I know.

No it isn't, and I did not.
