After progressing through 1.5 and 2.0 I'm all excited about CS3. I'm
wondering if I should buy it in the USA as I believe it's twice as much
here in the UK.
A profound thing about CS3 is that for the first time an Adobe edit
system has been taken on as a standard tool by the BBC. Glad they
discovered what we've known for the last couple of years. Premier and
its derivatives are good for most applications, including high end
broadcast. The key with any PC based system is to know how to configure
a PC, only ever known one professional hardware engineer who's worth
his weight in blubber in terms of building a PC edit suite. The rest
have been pretenders with fancy company logos and the misdirection of
urbane confident aplomb who ought to be prosecuted for fraud. They're
the ones who have been responsible for creating the myth that PC's don't
make good edit platforms.
The other cracking good PC editor, especially for HD and mixed format
projects, is Canopus Edius, the new 4.6 will be interesting.
