Thanks for the recommendation Spex but, since I've never dealt with
Digibeta, all I can suggest to Lee is to search the Sony Vegas forum at
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowTopics.asp?ForumID=4
using digibeta as the search word and farss as the user name. His real
name is Bob Grant and he's from Australia. I met him at NAB a few years
ago and he definitely knows what he's taking about when it comes to
anything Digibeta.
If you're a registered poster on that forum, his name is one that you
can click to send him an email and I'm sure he'd be glad to help a
fellow Vegas user.
Alternatively, post this question on that forum and I'm sure you'll get
a few more suggestions on the best way to handle this transfer.
One playback deck that farss mentions numerous times is the Sony J30.
This deck offers Betacam, Betacam SP, Betacam SX, MPEG IMX, and Digital
Betacam playback compatibility. It's switchable between 525/60 and
625/50 playback modes and has a firewire interface.
Details of this deck are at http://tinyurl.com/36nnte
List price on this deck is $14,760 and a quick google search showed
places renting it for $150-$200 per day.
