While it is being sold under the banner of The God Industrial Complex,
the article has a real point: the stupid nature of overpriced
weddings. Often the bills aren't paid off before the divorce
comes...and one of the major reasons couples fight is money.

The biggest indicator this is a ripoff: The Dress and the tux. The
dress is supposed to be worn once(if you buy into the your daughter
will wear it someday myth-then why aren't you wearing your mom's
dress?) and you buy it. All several thousand dollars of it. Wear there
are generally two to three opportunites a year for a man to wear a
tux, and you rent it????? Yeah....this is a emotional shakedown for
the contents of your pockets.
