My guess is that you did the white balance with ALL the stage lights
on, including any and all lights that had coloured gel in them which
will definitely throw your white balance off.
Try to get the lighting person to give you white light ONLY for white
balance purposes and I'm sure it'll look much better.
I videotape a lot of stage performances and this is what I always do
for a white balance.

The reflection from the letters is spilling onto the person.
If possible, try moving the speaker further forward or the letters
back.
If this isn't possible, try to get him/her lit separately from the
letters.
