As suggested by A N Other, it does sound as if the problem might be
the need to finalise the -R disc. Otherwise, the recorder could be
writing the disc in an unsuitable format. I can't comment for sure,
because I don't know the equipment in question.

Since my DVD recorder doesn't have a hard drive, I need to:

1. Copy the files from the RAM disc onto my PC
2. Rename the *.vro to *.mpg
3. Get a suitable program (I use DVD Author - see
http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda20.html) to create the
necessary *.vob etc files for a DVD-video from the *.mpg.
4. Write them to a DVD-R video with something like Nero. (Actually, if
memory serves, DVD Author includes a basic writing prog for this
purpose, though I don't tend to use it).

This is tedious, but it works.
