Will be replacing my current PC within the next two weeks and would like to
buy a computer with digital editing capabilities. Normally, I buy cheap
computers and replace every two - three years or so. Up until now I haven't
used them for digital editing so I haven't needed expansion or speed.
Currently, I have to go to the local cable station and edit video on
FCExpress. It's a real hassle. Would rather stay a home and edit on
something like Vegas. Any suggestion on the type of computer (or web site)
and specs I should be looking at. Would like to keep expenses under $1500
with software.
I mostly edit sporting events, fairs and interviews with local people. Most
likely I will continue doing the same with more documentary type stuff.
Thought of buying a Mac Pro as I am used to the FCE software, but they start
at $2500 and I'm not sold on the Bootcamp concept yet. I went through the
Mac/PC emulation debacle years ago. I told myself 'never again'. Another
problem is these Mac Pro's have been out for a while. I have a feeling they
will be coming out with a newer model soon. Don't want to buy an older
model unless I got a decent discount.
