The Ruscico DVD of Bondarchuk's /War and Peace/ list subtitles for
several languages, including both English and Russian. This has the
film on four discs, letterboxes, and a fifth disc of extras (in a
paper sleeve, so it isn't visible just looking at the side of the
box), in a slip-case box.
Here are some notes on this edition:
On the first and (IIRC) second film, on the Russian soundtrack,
whenever French dialogue is spoken, it is repeated in Russian shortly
thereafter, which one might imagine is merely how such things were
done when and where the film was made, but the later films do not do
this.
There is an English soundtrack; I have never heard it (unless the
version I saw in English in the theaters and/or on VHS uses the
relevant parts of the same soundtrack).
Although longer than the English dubbed version on VHS overall, there
is at least one scene missing and part III, in particular, appears to
be very choppy and is quite short.
