I just acquired a bunch of mp3's and many of them are recorded at
320kbps, which results in a fairly large file size. I'm getting older,
and my hearing is not what it use to be, by a long shot. :) My wife
won't let me buy another USB hard drive right now, so to save space,
I'm considering converting these files to 128kbps at 44.1khz sampling
rate. This results in file sizes half the size. I have a couple of
audio programs that will do this, and my experimenting so far has had
very good results, at least to my ears. I was hoping to get some
comments from others... with good hearing. :) It's my understanding
that 128kbps at 44.1kb sampling rate is considered CD quality, or near
CD quality. Comments welcome. :)
