It's probably just me, but I still prefer listening to cassette
mix tapes when I'm out than mp3s on an mp3 player. I can edit
out any silence between songs, record at the highest volume level
I want, and it sounds great to my ears.
Yes, it's a pain to go to the trouble of making mix tapes, and
you don't get shuffle play, etc., etc. Still, it's what I use
and prefer. (For listening at home, I either use the computer,
or make audio or mp3 disks for private music listening.)
But everyone is so obsessed with mp3 players nowadays they've
stopped making decent cassette 'walkmans' (generic term). The
Sony ones are absolute crap and break down within weeks.
Panasonic makes more durable ones but, of course, none of them
nowadays has the kind of volume output they used to, and they're
nowhere nearly as well crafted as they were back in their heyday.
(Just my half a cent, since probably everyone thinks this is
nuts.)
