Z1s and PDs are being used for broadcast today as much as HL-79s were a
decade or two ago.
Even though Ikegami HL-79s cost close to $80,000 by the time you got a lens
on them,
there were a lot of people that didn't think they were such a much.
In many ways the current crop of prosumer cameras are better than the old
cameras,
and DV stomps 3/4" tape (which was also used for broadcast) hands down.
