If at all possible, return to the original.
Take the better/best looking of what you have, run a color replacement
filter on it to replace the color of the dropouts with transparent and
have the next layer down be the next-best looking, with the same done
to it, repeat down all the levels of 'bad' you have footage wise.
Maybe apply a slight blur to each layer down to try to smooth over the
transition points (between layers, that is) and attempt to fill the
gaps a bit. Render this out and play with other compensation methods
for other problems. (If needed, color correct all files to match as
best as possible first)
