Probably, but it would require some kludging and it would be highly
dependent on exactly what your shooting circumstances are.

For example: I would consider hanging my Sony DCR TRV-900
from one of those suspended-ceiling "scissors-clips" if I were
shooting in a location with "T-grid" ceiling tiles, etc. But a big
camera like my DSR-300 would take a significantly more
beefy solution.

Modern, small form-factor cameras are not that different in
size (and weight) from early microphones (from the 1940s-
1950s, etc.) I have heard of people using the old mic boom
perambulators with small camcorders in place of the
microphone, etc.
