Widely believed to be a factor. Longer tapes were also important
though. Early Betamax was only 1 hour.

May be different for HD Disc formats though. At the VHS/Beta time
porn was limitted to magazines (and other still images), Soho cinemas
and video tape. Now we still have these, plus standard def DVDs (and
DVD quality is quite tolerable for many people), and downloads.
