Hey Spider have you tried hooking it up by plugging into the headphone
socket out of the Portable DVD player - or the *postable* DVD player as you
called it ;-) and then plug it into to the a stereo MIC socket of the
mixer instead of line in? careful though because the mic socket is more
sensitive than a line in socket so start of with the mic slider low to start
off with otherwise the sound could blast out!
If the MP3's need boosting up on the old volume before burning them why
don't you try a free program like mp3gain:
