Yes, try different software. I had symptoms such as you describe when I was
trying to play a movie on my PC for the first time and was using Windows
Media Player. Then I acquired PowerDVD which came as a freebie when I bought
an internal LG burner, and it works very well for me. However I get best
results with the older 5.0 version. The newer 6.0 version of PowerDVD is
very sluggish on my computer and again produces symptoms like you describe.
So it's a matter of getting the right software and the right version that
works OK with your particular computer and op system.
