I think the question is "How do you define 'meant to watch them'"?
A classic example (that bugs me too!) is Batman: The Animated Series.
The DVDs place the episodes in production order rather than airdate
order.
But again, how do you decide which is "correct"? I prefer the airdate
order because it goes a long time before introducing Robin and this
allows for a few false starts. But it's hard to fault someone for
taking the serial numbers off the shows and putting them on disc in
that order.
