LIES MY MOTHER TOLD ME:
BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES (VOLUME 4) (reviewed by Kerry Birmingham,
overall score 90/100):
"This isn't to say that this Batman is completely neutered. Even under
the auspices of The WB, the writers still manage an occasional off-
color joke or reference; how censors let Harley's seduction of The
Joker ('Wanna try some of my pie?') through or allowed Roxie Rocket to
scream orgasmically as she and Batman straddled a giant, er, rocket, is
beyond me."

THE BIGGEST LOSER WORKOUT (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 89/100):
"The difficulty level of these workouts is pretty accelerated if
you've never worked out before. People with joint problems are going
to find the constant jumping and kicking somewhat daunting. The worst
aspect of this DVD is that people who will want to use it the most may
not be able to."

CLASSIC TV COMEDIANS (reviewed by Jonathan Weiss, overall score 30/100):
"From the looks of them, the fine folks at Passport Video didn't exactly
scour the vaults to find the best examples of each performer's work."

HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI: ROCK FOREVER! (reviewed by Brendan Babish, overall
score 61/100):
"Animation would seem like a natural medium for these two women, whose
flamboyant wardrobe and spasmatic mannerisms are already, well,
cartoonish. However, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi creator Sam Register has oddly
chosen to downplay the goofy exuberance of Ami and Yumi in their cartoon
counterparts."

MURDER ONE: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall
score 85/100):
"It's some of the best, deepest, and most thoughtful legal television
ever made. The untimely broadcast death of Murder One is tragic, but
don't waste your time mourning. Two great seasons of the show have been
resurrected on DVD."

NOWHERE MAN (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall score 91/100):
"If The Prisoner is lobster in a fancy restaurant, Nowhere Man is a
decent meal at Red Lobster. But that is still much better than a Filet-O-
Fish sandwich any time."

ROSEANNE: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON (reviewed by Jennifer Malkowski,
overall score 82/100):
"The writers set up a really sweet moment and then cut through the
sugar with a great one-liner before it becomes nauseating or worse,
boring. This tactic was ruined by later writing staffs who created
similar voiceover moments but dropped the punchlines, partly causing
the extreme deterioration of a show that is still fantastic at this
point in its run."

SCARY TRUE STORIES: TEN HAUNTING TALES FROM THE JAPANESE UNDERGROUND
(reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 84/100):
"While I haven't really bombarded my eyeballs with tons of J-horror,
stacking the stories on this disc against some of the stuff I have seen,
shows lots of similarities: creepy visuals, jump scenes, effective
music, and more young girls in school uniforms than you can shake a
chopstick at."

WIDOW ON THE HILL / LIES MY MOTHER TOLD ME (reviewed by Kerry
Birmingham, overall score 84/100):
"These days, the only thing separating a Lifetime movie from a
theatrical release is a few drafts of the script and the casting.
Replace Charlize Theron with Valerie Bertinelli and North Country could
have been on Lifetime."
