No, that isn't obvious at all. That's what "genre" is for. If a song
has incorrect data for "genre", change it. And with ID3v2 tags, you
can create your own genres; with ID3v1 tags, you have to use those
genres in the pre-defined list.

Yes, it takes time to assure the tags are correct. I took the time to
make my 40,000 correct and I know people that have done so with more
than 500,000.

If I want to listen to a particular genre ("catagory") I just open my
MP3 database and sort it by genre. I used the "comment" field for
sub-catagories and I can sort by that too.

Not going to happen unless that is part of the file name as playlists
are just text entries listing the path to the MP3s so the player can
find them.
