The Panasonic AG-DVX100B ($2649.95 at B&H) or Sony DSR-PD170
($2599.95 at B&H) are both well over your budget. Don't know what they
go for used, however. Perhaps some kind soul moving up from SD to HD
and disposing of their old equipment would offer you a good price.
