Firstly, be sure to reply to each dispute. They should not be closed
unless there is a mutual agreement to cancel the auction or time runs
out (7 days?). If you do not reply, the seller can leave a negative
for
each, but you will not have that option if you don't reply. Be
factual,
avoiding opinions & negative comments. Also, do not leave a negative
until all else fails. Once a negative is left, it's typically the
last
you'll hear from the seller (except for their retaliatory
negative).
When it comes time to leave the negatives, hold off until the 90th
day
to minimize the seller's awareness (minimizing the opportunity for
them
to post a retaliatory negative).

Secondly, the "secret code" is a wacky way to do business (should
have
been a caution light to avoid that seller). Until the seller
provides
an invoice that omits the S/H charge, DO NOT PAY. It's possible
that
your emails are being blocked by a spam filter. Only use the eBay
contact method.

Thirdly, eBay's customer service is typically poor, but many
times
they do eventually respond.

Fourthly, if you eventually pay, be sure to pay via Paypal, funded
via
credit card so that you have some recourse (chargeback possibility)
in
case something else goes wrong with the transaction (assuming that
holds
in the UK).
