Hmmm...
Might be just coincidence but my suspicions lie with Play as the fraudulent
transactions started shortly after I added the card to my account. As I said
in my original post I had not used the card for several months with the
exception of a purchase from Handango a month earlier.
I would imagine the fraudster would have needed to provide the card's CVV
number, and this can't be gained simply by getting hold of statement in the
garbage. And in any case I shred my stuff.
I've just received my replacement card so I think I'll be giving Play a miss
for the time being.
I might be doing Play a disservice, but I rather be safe than sorry where
these types of things are concerned.
