Is it reasonable for video production/rental place to charge $140 per hour
to transfer video from DVCPRO format to an avi file on a hard drive? I
thought $140/hr is the rate for editing. Video transfer hardly requires any
human interaction.
I've already been to a very reasonably place call 911media.org. They rent
edit suite for $15/hr. Unfortunately, they only have DVCAM decks (e.g. dsr
20, dsr 30). They play back DVCPRO tapes in slow motion with stuttered audio
:(
Another place, verrents, rents dvcpro deck for $175 per day. Unfortunately,
they require some sort of business insurance which I don't have.
If anyone has a lead on other places in seattle, please let me know. I have
total of 3.5 hour of video I need to transfer. Or, could someone sell or
donate a dvcpro deck to 911media? :)
