Oh wait, you meant permanent for archiving. Then DVD-Rs are definitely an
inexpensive solution.
I've got a few HD movies stored as .ts files, but they span 4 or 5 DVDs
and have to be reassembled before viewing (unless you don't mind changing
DVDs during playback).
