Not necessarily. Last time I used one, it kept rubbing on the actor's
clothing, even though I thought it would not. So instead I mounted a
shotgun mic right above his head on a boom mic stand.

Tomorrow I'm trying out the wireless lavalier in a large hall for
auditions. I'm guessing it'll be suitable, but there may be unforeseen
factors. Maybe interference?

Right now I'm looking at better-quality lavaliers, but I'm not buying
until I;ve determined that using lavaliers is right for my needs.

That wasn't what I said; only that they don't pick up room echo.

I don't know what you mean by "rolling off". The mic's dynamic range is
80-12500 Hz.
