I heard somewhat-positive response (and no clear negatives) from
the professionals over at news:rec.arts.movies.production.sound
for the Rode VideoMic
While that may sound "feint praise" from the r.a.m.p.s guys, remember
that they normally use shotgun mics that cost thousands of $$$, so it
makes the Rode sound like good value for the $$.
Trew Audio has a nice package with a good boom pole, shock-
mount, "dead-cat" furry windscreen (plus foam windscreen), etc.

Glen Trew is a working professional sound guy with credits for
major Hollywood productions and he has a nice chain of shops
for production sound stuff. Recommended.

If I needed a USB audio interface right now, I would try the Behringer
UCA 202. 30USD
