Hi Joe,
I'm yakking the lower Russian River, in California.
Not too turbulent, except when it floods. I always see something
interesting, most everyday, but occasionally, I see something fantastic and
that is what I'm really after. The camera isn't just to get stuff to show
others, but it also allows me to review the action and maybe see and
understand more of what is really going on. It also allows me to see other
things that are happening in the scene that I miss while watching something
else while it is happening.
I have been thinking on the helmet thing or maybe chest mount or even better
for me would be some kind of swing out mount that I could still use the eye
viewer.
One thing I know for sure. To get the kind of thing I'm after, the camera
has to be out and ready to go at all times. I missed a couple of things the
other day, because I had to get it out of my pack. Things just don't wait or
get scared off by me moving trying to get things out to the pack.

Right now, I'm carrying the cam leaning on my chest, with a draw string
around my neck. I usually have the cam tucked under my shirt to keep drips
off it. This way, it's ready to go and I can left it up to my eye and not
make a lot of movements to distract whatever it is I'm shooting.

You'll just have to be patient for YouTube stuff. I'm sure I'll get there
eventually, but all this is for fun, and I'm not in a rush.

I could do the ocean too, but I get motion sick too easy and ocean sick is
the worst, so no way. The ocean is right here too, but I'll stick to the
river. :O) I also don't need a wet suit year round if I stay out of the
ocean.
