Sure there was some competition between studios and manufacturers to make
the big push for numbers for either format, but primarily, it was the 4th
quarter sales push for the holidays just to bring in revenue, period.
You'll see the same thing happen next Nov/Dec.
As for the format war, I'm glad there's an end in sight. What drove me to
chose one format over the other was which format had more titles I liked.
There was no way I was going to buy two different players to support two
competing formats especially if logically, one or the other was going to be
the sole format within a couple years max. I'd rather have the option of
seeing more of my favorite titles come out on one format vs two from here on
in versus seeing crap like Eragon priced at $15 to move units.
