Not everyone else. Most of us really don't care. If you want HD from an
optical system you have choices or you can get a combo player. It is no
different from the many other types of discs out there and other kinds of
format options. The need to see one fail and the other "win" is simply not
a concern for most of us. Eventually we will have HD in more accessable
downloadable services and more HD on demand services and discs will be less
of a concern anyway.
Don't expect either to "win" any time soon. Both may suffer from the
manufacturer's inability to avoid the "war." We could have had a clear
transition from DVD to a superior format by now had they agreed to a common
standard. As it is, those who are willing to pay the price will make a
choice and the rest of us will be happy to use DVD for a while longer.
