Assuming no firewall problems, then the problem is that you don't have
any of the various patches installed. Your WinMx is trying to contact
the defunct official WinMx website. You don't have anything in place
to trap and reroute the call.
Either install the patch code for your favorite patch manually before
installing WinMx or use the patchers' installer.
