I have a Philips DVDR70 and has worked well the last few years until a week
ago when I bought a new batch of Philips discs at xmas. When i tried to
record onto them the clock went forward for about 10 secs then froze at the
same time the recorder clicked away. when i pushed stop the recorder went
into formatting mode but then wouldnt come out of it and i had to unplug it
to get out! when i went back into the disc it said it was empty.
I tried this with quite a few of the philips discs from the batch but with
the same result. These discs were the exact same type as the Philips ones i
bought back in October and when i went back to a few of them they recorded
fine. I then tried a few Maxell ones bought recently and got the same freeze
up.
Thinking the recorder needed a firmware update I mailed Philips and they
sent me an update disc. I applied it ok but it still won't record onto my
new discs
So wondered if anybody knows what is happening here? I thought at first the
recorder may be failing but then why would it record on my old discs ok? I
am considering just getting a new Philips recorder for 75 from Dixons as it
is so frustrating!
thanks,
Mike
