I am not sure if the Sharp i tried did that. This is the reason why so
many like Panasonic, I think. The FR record allows you to set the
length of the recording to fill a disc (or an 8 hour slot on the HDD),
so you can set it to use the whole disc for just a few minutes of
stuff if you wish, or up to eight hours. Good, if you're okay with
working lengths out, for fitting a couple of films or progs exactly to
a disc length.
