If by "camera operator" you mean someone remote-controlling
one (or more?) cameras, you could make the argument that
having that person out in "FOH" puts them in a better position
to see what is going on (besides wherever the camera(s) are
aimed at the moment.)
OTOH, amateurs are often tempted to just watch the action
rather than remembering that they are responsible for properly
shooting the action for the viewer at the other end of the video.
Professionals are more disciplined in these areas, but desiging
the facility so that it can be run properly only by professionals
seems like a bad idea in a place where you must rely on
amateurs for most (all?) of your crew.
IMHO, projectionist should be back in the video control
room, isolated from FOH.
