I recommeded the R300 to my brother, and he bought
one (new) for about $50-$60 on sale, with rebates, etc.
(On a side note, I also recommended this n.g. to him,
after explaining how I've dropped out of many ng's
because it was impossible to discuss the simplest topic
without someone going ballistic. Oh, well...)

Is that Krylon something you just get at the paint store?

While I don't buy non-Epson ink, I do buy the cheapest
hub-printable DVDs I can find online. One time I bought
some Verbatims from Buy.Com to see how the other half
lives (and they were on sale), but I had several failures.
I can't remember EVER having a failure with the cheap-o's.

My wife had a Brother combo laser printer/fax/scanner
and it was time for a new drum. I checked online and
got a *new* (and better) Brother laser combo for about
the same price as a new drum and toner. So it's not just
the inkjets. OTOH, about $100 for a combo laser??
I remember when the HP LaserJet first came out for --
what was it - $3600 or so? -- and dreaming of the day
when they might drop down to the _$1000_ range.
If computers were cars, we would be paying $1000 for
Ferrarri's now.
