I got a similar message from the FBI's field office in Lagos, Nigeria -
they wanted me to come in for questioning about this lottery scam that
I fell for. Now I didn't think I fell for any scam - I don't even play
lotteries. But the E-mail must have been genuine because it mentioned
that actual fact in it - "you may not remember participating in any
lottery organized by his excellency, the state comptroller for
Nigeria". Now, I don't know how I'm going to get to Nigeria, but the
FBI said that they'd send me a free ticket once they confirmed my
identity, SS#, DoB, address, ATM PIN# (they MUST be FBI - how else
would they know I used an ATM?).
Now I was still skeptical until I went on the alt.politics.spoofedbyFBI
and alt.travel.cometoNigeria&loseyourshirt NGs. I figured if this was
a scam, those boards would be lit with stories just like it - but
everybody just wanted to talk about using this thing called WinMX.
what the hell is winmx, and why won't my winmx start my downloads?
