I can't say I agree with that. Despite being the most successful(well,
until DVD came along), VHS was infact inferior to most other video
formats. It's closest relative, Betamax was technically speaking the
better format even though it lost the format war to VHS. Laserdisc of
course mopped the floor with VHS on any technical level, although I've
gotta say it was probably the worst video format ever created for rental
purposes. Could you imagine trying to rent those huge discs? *shudder*
Also, the Phillips Video 2000 format was vastly superior to VHS.

By no means do I object to anyone still owning one or more VCRs. They
certainly still have some use. I just think everyone should own at least
one DVD player at this point.

Can 35 bucks even be considered an investment? DVDs have been around for
8 years. I think you can safely purchase a player now. :)
